Eula Merrell Anderson

Eula Merrell Anderson, age 90, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Valley Healthcare Center. She was a charter member of Lick Creek Freewill Baptist Church and locally attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

She was born to the late Roy Edwards and Viney Edwards in Dickenson County, VA. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Wilson Henry Anderson; two sons, David Anderson and Allen Anderson; two daughters, Nina Edwards and Lois Jones; and seven siblings.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Anderson of Abingdon, VA; four daughters, Margaret McDonald and husband Norman Rex of Abingdon, VA, Brenda Rose and husband Luther of Meadowview, VA, Bonicha Stenberg and husband Gino of Hazel, KY, and Dorothy Cochran and husband Ronnie of Abingdon, VA; two son-in-laws, Gary Edwards of Sand Lick, VA and Robert Jones of Marion, VA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Anderson of Dante, VA; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Kirby Miller and Paul Price officiating.

A second funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Lick Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Haysi, VA with Brother Glen Sykes and Brother Verlin Deel officiating. Interment will follow in Anderson Cemetery where grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Valley Healthcare Center especially Debbie Blankenship, Amy, Sissy and Aaron; as well as caregivers, Cathy Saarela and Vickey Burchette for their excellent care.
