Mrs. Eva T. Rush, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 15, 2013 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Berry Hill Tate and Bessie Mae Farris Tate.
She was a teacher at Blackwell's Chapel School in Meadowview, Va. After her marriage, she moved to Bristol and was a homemaker. Later, she worked for a few years as a teacher's aide at the Stonewall Jackson Elementary School in the Right To Read Program. She was a devoted wife of 57 years to Wayne, and a wonderful mother to sons Tim and Todd. She loved very much her daughter-in-law Emily and her 9 grandchildren. Mrs. Rush had been a member of the Shelby Street Church of God for many years where she was a Sunday School Secretary and Teacher of the Dorcas Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: her husband Bryant Wayne Rush, sons Tim Rush of the home and Todd Rush (Emily) of Meadowview, Va. 9 grandchildren; Elizabeth, Katheryn, Ben, Daniel, Ruthie, Joseph, Rachel, Rebecca and Seth all of Meadowview, VA; Sisters, Ruth Smith of Bristol, TN, and twin sister, Geneva Wright (Wiley) of Bristol, Va. Brothers; James Tate (Bailey) of Bristol, TN and Sam Tate of Wilmington, NC. Sisters-In-Law Martha Rush Denney of the home, Faye Rush (Frank) Barrett of Meadowview, VA, Special Sisters-In-Law and caregiver Linda Rush Shumaker of the home; Brothers-In-Law Guy Allen Rush (Becky) of Meadowview, VA, Emmett Rush (Virginia) of Piney Flats, TN, Special Friends; Betty Cross and Polly Davis of Bristol, VA and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Eva T. Rush will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday in the Farris Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. J.W. Norris and Rev. Scott Price officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Valley Drive, Bristol, Va. The family will receive friends from noon - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Pall Bearers will be selected from nephews. Honorary bearers will be Dr.James Schrenker and the Staff of Caris Hospice, Dr. Shannon Finch. Marsha Smith, Shirley Church, Kristie Goodman, Katherine Rollins, Theresa Goins, Cindy Franklin Gloria Gentry, Angie Hamblin, Cathy Pollard, and Karen Foster. The family would like to thank Fellowship Chapel and Greendale Chapel for the visits, prayers, cards and gifts during Eva's illness.
