Evelyn Cullip Counts

Glade Spring, VA - Evelyn Cullip Counts, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 7, 2024, at her home. 

Evelyn was the first-born and last surviving child of William (Bones) and Georgie Creger Cullip. She graduated from Glade Spring High School as a member of the Class of 1946. She was a homemaker, enjoyed working in her flower garden, and was an excellent cook. She loved all of her family dearly.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bones) Cullip and Georgie Creger Cullip; husband, Ben T. Counts; grandsons, Ricky Logan Counts and Brett Hanshew; sisters, Virginia Carol Cullip (infant), Mildred Lee, Faye Helton, Lavern (Susie) Dye; brothers, Duane Cullip and William Cullip; and special niece Janet Harris and special nephew Billy Lee.

She is survived by a son, Ricky L. Counts of Glade Spring, VA; a daughter, Cathy L. Counts Hanshew (husband Ken) Atkins, VA; grandson, Jody Hanshew (wife Katherine); great granddaughter, Chloe Hanshew; special nieces Cindy Coleman and Temple Yarber, step grandson and granddaughter Terry Gross and Deanna Crewey; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM in Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery with niece Lindsay Allison speaking, and Landon Eldreth, Isaac Eldreth, Zackery Eldreth, Shane Harris, Earnest Greer, and Jason Boswell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Lee, Daryl Lee, Billy Helton, and Con Gates.
