Evelyn Harman Tilson Hubble

Abingdon, Va. 

Evelyn Harman Tilson Hubble, 93, passed on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at her home.  Evelyn was born in the Nebo community of Smyth County on October 15, 1925 to Harmon Henry and Virginia Pruner Tilson.  After graduating from Ceres High School in 1943, she married, and with her late husband, Robert Herman Hubble, moved to Baltimore in 1951, where they lived for 44 years before moving to Abingdon in 1995.   

In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn is preceded in death by her sister, Anne Tilson Cassell. 

Mrs. Hubble is survived by her children: Robert Harmon (Joey) Hubble, James Michael (Adrienne) Hubble, and Rozanne (James) Counts; grandchildren, Robert T. (Jeong Hee) Hubble, Gerald Counts, Carl Counts, Melissa (Mike) Aguado, and Michael Hubble; sister, Tillie Umbarger; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with ministers Paul Young and Tom Crise officiating.  A second service will be held at noon Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Nebo, Va. where son-in-law Jim Counts will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery where grandsons Robert T. Hubble, Gerald Counts, Carl Counts, Michael Hubble, and nephews Jeffrey Cassell and Edd Houck will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Archie Atwell, Otho Cassell, Ronald Houck, and Woodson Umbarger. 

The family would like to thank those who so lovingly cared for Mrs. Hubble at her home during her last days: Kaye, Jan, Margaret, Susie, Brenda, Gail, Candy, and Wanda.  The family would also like to thank special neighbors Debbie Woods and Trish Young, and special friend and former minister, Howard Taylor, for their love and many kindnesses throughout the years.
