Abingdon, VA Mrs. Evelyn June Thomas Ryburn, age 85, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. She was born in Glade Spring, VA, but had lived for many years in Palatine, IL, before moving to Abingdon in 1996. June was a member of the Byars Cobbs Memorial United Methodist Church. She took great pride in being a homemaker. June was predeceased by her parents, George A. and Mamie Arnett Thomas; brother Lloyd Thomas, and sister Eleanor Hamilton. She is survived by her husband Carter Ryburn; sister Emolyn King of Abingdon; brother Kenneth Thomas of Salem, VA; nephews Phillip Thomas, Paul Thomas (Sue), Andrew Thomas (Kathleen), Timothy Thomas (Laura) and Nathan Thomas (Amanda); and nieces Lynette Snyder (Fred), and Valerie Beck ( Rick). Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. A funeral service for June Ryburn will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 6, 2015 in the Mausoleum at Mt. Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, VA, with Rev. Paul Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum prior to the service.
