Fannie Jennelle, age 88, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was the oldest of 13 children born to Charles Shively and Beatrice Dempsey Farris in Logan, WV. Being the oldest, she had the responsibility of helping to raise her siblings. This responsibility helped her to develop a strong work ethic, understand the importance of being a provider and putting other people’s needs above her own. These traits followed her through her life. Additionally, her family remembers her as being a great cook, honest and very straight forward. She loved flowers and took great pride in her gardening.
Fannie lived over 40 years in Jewell Ridge, Va. and made many close friends on the mountain. She later moved to Lebanon, Va. where she resided for 27 years.
In addition to her parents, Fannie was predeceased by her husband Chapman Eugene Jennelle, son Danny Ray Farris, and 11 siblings.
She is survived by her daughters Lois Flanary and husband Ken of Johnson City, TN and Charlotte Jennelle of Morristown, TN, son Mike Bryant and wife Sandy of Castlewood, Va., brother Donnie Farris of Logan, WV, grandchildren Rachel Flanary, Eve Sharpe, Adam and Christopher Bryant.
Services will be private.
