Filbert Williams

Filbert "Phil" Williams passed away November 25, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center.

Phil served in the United States Army as a communication specialist. He retired from Hapco as a salesman. One of Phil's passions was playing golf and competing with his buddies on the golf course. He especially loved playing with his boys and grandson. Phil also enjoyed gardening and woodworking. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was born to the late, Henry and Laura Williams on April 28, 1935; he is also preceded in death by his twin brother, Albert Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Freeman Williams; two sons, Michael Williams and wife Lisa of Kingsport, TN and John Williams and wife Paula of Glade Spring, VA; two dearly loved grandchildren, Emmy Williams and Skylar Williams; sister, Margaret Teaster of Marion, VA; brother-in-law, Richard Freeman and wife Jean of Onancock, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Beverly Robinette and Kris Payne officiating. A committal service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, November 30, 2012 at Holston Conference Cemetery in Emory, VA. Those wishing to go in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:30 a.m.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the superb care at Johnston Memorial Hospital ICU and the Johnson City Medical Center ICU 2800.
