Flossie Ray Rasnake Fields, 97, passed on Thursday, February 28, 2019, in Johnston Memorial Hospital. Flossie was a native of Buchanan County before moving to Abingdon in 1969.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William L. Ray and Patsy Catherine McGlothlin Ray; her first husband who was the love of her life, Howard Taft Rasnake; second husband, Frank Fields; grandson, Chris Rasnake; great-grandson, Joshua Widener; five brothers; and three sisters.
Flossie is survived by her daughter, Hester Dye of Abingdon, Va.; sons, Winfred (Ruth) Rasnake of Abingdon, Va., Carlos (Brenda) Rasnake of Lebanon, Va., and her “adopted” son, Randy Doss; grandchildren, Scott Rasnake, Tony Rasnake, Randy Rasnake, Pamela (Jeff) Widener, Rod Dye, Karla Rasnake, and Joe Rasnake; great-grandchildren, Nicole Widener, Jonas Rasnake, and Abby Rasnake; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 1-2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Darrell Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Jeff Widener, Nicole Widener, Mike Martin, Scotty Owens, Bob Hale, and Joe Rasnake serving as pallbearers.
