Fount O’Dell Taylor, 78, of Abingdon, Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. He was born to the late Ira Edgar Taylor and Aldie Kirk Taylor in Russell County, Va. Fount was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a cattle and tobacco farmer and later became a private contractor. Fount was a member at Highlands Fellowship.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Snodgrass; sister, Jessie Steele and husband Birtest; brother-in-law, Horten Bordwine; sister-in-law, Freda Taylor; and two nephews, Randall Coe and Eddie Taylor.
Fount is survived by his daughter, Millie Farmer and husband Anthony, of Asheville, N.C.; son, Allen Bott and wife Barbara, of Abingdon, Va.; five siblings: Hie Taylor of Saltville, Va.; Ira Taylor and wife Rose, of Meadowview, Va.; Birdie Caudell and husband Herbert, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Opal Coe of Saltville, Va.; and Laura Bordwine of Meadowview, Va.; seven grandchildren, Josh Farmer, Emily Collett, Chrissy Gilbert, Brittany Harris, Heather Henderson, Alicia Megredy and Vanessa Rasnake; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Eggers officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, Tenn. with military honors provided by the Virginia National Guard. Pallbearers will be Josh Farmer, O’Dell Bordwine, Allen Bott, Cody Taylor, Tim Henderson, and Chris Megredy. Those attending the committal service should meet at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m.
