Frances Darlene Scott Hockett

Mrs. Frances Darlene Scott Hockett, age 76, died at her home Sunday morning.
She was born September 4, 1932 in Washington County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Joseph Scott and Mary Meeks Hartswick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth E. Hockett; a brother, Ralph E. Scott; and step mother, Bertie Mae Scott.
Survivors are her step father, Fred W. Hartswick; her children, Lynn R. Hockett and Marlyn Boatwright of Raleigh, NC, James R. Hockett and wife, Linda of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Norma Schrantz and husband, Michael of Dahlgren, VA; a brother, Charles Scott and wife, Ruth; a sister, Mary Catherine Willey; an aunt, Ruth Scott; grandchildren, Rose Ann, Jonathan D. and Kenneth P. Hockett, Jennifer L. Beard and husband, Scott, and Matthew E. Schrantz; a great grandchild, Derek W. Hockett; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hockett will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Farris Funeral Chapel in Abingdon with Rev. Scott Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Derek W. Hockett, Matthew E. Schrantz, Jonathan D. Hockett, Taylor DeBusk, Mike Mash, Doug Hardin, and Michael Hoback. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blackwell's Chapel Church, Hospice of Southwest VA, or to the Glade Spring Volunteer Life Saving Crew.
