Frances M. Fern, age 100, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Valley Health Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was the last surviving child of the late Andrew and Frances Fern. She worked on the family farm as a young girl and later worked as a seamstress at Harwood. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by 15 siblings.
She is survived by three nieces: Margaret McCormick of Bristol, VA; Violet Freeman of Bristol, TN; and Patricia Fern of VA; two nephews, Harry McKee of OH and Mike Fern of CA; several great nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jerry Belisle and James Carty.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Family and friends will travel in procession to Knollkreg Memorial Park for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday where the Reverend John E. Massey, Jr. will officiate.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Care Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
