Abingdon, VA - Frank Albert Lawson, Jr., age 83, passed on Saturday, October 03, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 13, 1932 in Tip Top, VA to the late Frank Albert Lawson, Sr. and Lola Marie Hager Lawson. Frank was a graduate of Tazewell High School and was employed by Betsy Ross Bakeries for 26 years. He and his wife moved to Abingdon in 1979 where he was an independent distributor for McKee Bakeries for 16 years prior to retiring. Frank was a member of Woodland Hills Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanetta Lawson and Emily Gertrude Lawson Carter. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Juanita Proffitt Lawson; children, Mike Lawson (Brenda) of Blountville, TN, Denise Martin (Jim) of Bristol, VA, and Sherri Lawson of Abingdon, VA; brother, Jack Lawson (Linda) of North Tazewell, VA; sister, Betty Brewster of North Tazewell, VA; four grandchildren, Amy Martin Porter, Ann Martin Bottom (Brandon), Jennifer Lawson Odum (Ryan), and James Matthew Martin; and six great-grandchildren, Kiera Porter, Chloe Odum, Samantha Bottom, Toby Porter, Taylor Odum, and Ella Bottom. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Woodland Hills Christian Church with Pastor Paul Viers officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 2:45 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. following the service. The family would like to extend special thanks to Caris Hospice for the wonderful care provided to Frank.
