Bristol, TN- Frank Rhea Carter, age 81, of Bristol, TN, formerly of Meadowview, VA, went to be with the Lord, August 12, 2014, at his home after a lengthy illness. His family has lost a dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was born on November 8, 1932 in Saltville, VA to the late Hubert and Florida Dye Carter. Frank was the founder of Carter Construction Company; he built homes in the Southwest Virginia, Northeast Tennessee region including Timberbrook, Fairfield, Grand Harbor, and Chestnut Ridge. He was a loving father to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. If it was Sunday morning, and if he was physically able, Frank could be found at Tennessee Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a member. Antiquing and auctions were Frank’s pastimes. He could regularly be located at auction barns, estate sales, and antique shows around Bristol and beyond. Frank was a great teacher and a generous human being who never met a stranger and was well respected and loved by everyone he met. He will be sadly missed by many. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Arlee Carter, and two brothers, Bertie Carter and Bill Carter. He is survived by his son, Tim Carter and wife Cathy of Johnson City, TN; two daughters, Diane Epperson and husband Johnny of Johnson City, TN and Carolyn Kline of Bristol, TN; six grandchildren, Krissy Dorton, Michael Carter and wife Annie, Lindsey Reimer and husband Matt, Dakota Kline, Jarrett Kline, and Kory Davis; eleven great grandchildren, Haley, Carter, Maddie, Zachary, Brooklyn, Camy, Kenna, Caroline, Maddox, Catheryn and Brinkley all of Bristol, TN; sister, Inez McCray and husband Branson; two brothers, Al Carter and wife Judy and Joe Carter and wife Margaret; and grand goddaughter, Ashling Bryne of Tokyo, Japan. He was also blessed with several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 15th at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Eklund officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park where Michael Carter, Dakota Kline, Jarrett Kline, Kory Davis, Jeremy Kline, Johnny Epperson and Matt Reimer will serve as pallbearers.
