Fred Douglas Hill, Sr.

Fred Douglas Hill, Sr., age 86, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Commonwealth Assisted Living; Cedar Bluff, VA. He was born to the late Robert Hill, Sr. and Carrie Hoard Hill on May 18, 1933. Fred retired from the United States Army having served for 24 years. He was a member of Lee Street Baptist Church in Bristol, Va.
In addition to his parents, Fred was also preceded in death by his wife, Edith Rosetta Lampkins Hill; and four siblings, Arthur Hill Sr., Robert Hill, Jr., Nell Wooten, and JoAnne Ellison.
He is survived by his son, Fred Douglas Hill, Jr. and wife, Tasha; two daughters, Stephanie Goode and Regina Skipper; five siblings, Betty Cook, Mary Johnson, Nancy Johnson, Connie Washington, and Eugene Hill; and three grandchildren, Vincent Anderson, Destini Hill, and Maurice Hill.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Blacksburg Cemetery with Jerry Hill officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. There will be no funeral procession. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
