Fred Eugene Gross, age 71, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Select Specialty Hospital of Bristol Regional Medical Center. He retired from People, Inc. after 28 years of service as the Weatherization Coordinator. Fred was also a talented woodworker who did carpentry on the side. He was a member of the Church of New Beginnings in Glade Spring. He continued his legacy of caring through the donation of his corneas.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Ristine Gross and Helen Louise Gross Day; son, Amon Charles Gross; grandson, Samuel Vince Rasnake; brother, William Daniel Gross; and sister, Lorrie Darlene Day.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jamie Kay Gross; four children: Noah Gross and wife, Stephanie, of Meadowview; Daisha Rasnake and husband, Brian, of Abingdon; Indira Gross of Bristol, Va.; and Tashina Gross of Bristol, Va.; 13 grandchildren; niece, Connie Morrell; and nephew, Daniel Day.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of New Beginnings, 10495 Forest Hills Dr., Glade Spring, Va., (outside with weather permitting) with Pastor Jeff Wallace and Pastor David Gilliam officiating. Interment will follow in Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery where Noah Gross, Clayton Keen, Benjamin Rasnake, David Rasnake, Ryan Vaughan, Adam Warren, Jim Warren, and Joe Warren will serve as pallbearers. Bob Dillard and Brian Rasnake will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at the church.
