Frederick Theodore Osborne

Frederick (Fred) Theodore Osborne, 96 passed away in Johnston Memorial Hospital on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

 He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 72 years, Naomi Ruth, and eight siblings. 

He is survived by his four children, Jerry Osborne and wife Kathy, Daniel Osborne and wife Gwen, Norma Boyd, and Suzette Summerson and husband, Mike, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved “Poppaw” very much.

 Mr. Osborne held various jobs in his career life. He drove a tractor trailer for several years and worked as a repairman in the coal mines for many years. However, he was most well known for his excellent mechanical capabilities, having worked for Crabtree Buick for many years. He also had a garage at his home and stayed busy well after retirement, keeping all of his friends and neighbors’ vehicles, tractors, lawnmowers and so on in tip-top running order. He was known for his honesty, integrity and superior work ethic by all who knew him. Mr. Osborne was also a very talented fiddle player, sharing his talent with various musicians in the area. His greatest accomplishment and the thing his family is most proud of is him accepting the Lord as his Savior at the age of 88. He spent the rest of his life witnessing and praising the Lord for his salvation. He will be missed more than words can express. His remaining family members and all who loved him are looking forward to that glorious day when they will be reunited in Heaven.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. August 12, 2024, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Dr. Austin Cook officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Fritz, Cameron Summerson, Mike Summerson, Mike Green, Dylan Green, and Micky Blankenship.
