Garland Clarence Wolfe, Sr., 90, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at his home. Garland was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. and retired from the Town of Abingdon. He was a U.S. Army Korean War-era Veteran. Garland was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church, where he served as an usher for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Mary Elizabeth, infant daughter, Lisa Jane Wolfe and parents Ervin and Elsa Wolfe, sister, Florence Arnold, and brothers, Hershal, Bobby, and J.D. Wolfe.
Garland is survived by four daughters: Brenda Nunley and husband Larry, Linda Wyatt and husband Rick, Christine Roark and husband Buster, and Florence Evelyn Roberts and husband Fred; one son Garland C. Wolfe, Jr. and wife Joy; loving granddaughters Rachel Skeen and husband Steve, Jessica Marcum and husband Jimmy, and Cindy Doss and husband Tyler; grandson Adam Wolfe and his fiancée Emily Johnson, and more grandchildren and great grandchildren. Garland is also survived by his brothers, Egbert "Eddie" Wolfe, Kenneth Wolfe, and dear sister, Gladys Whittaker and husband Willie
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor David Robins and Reverend Adam Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where casket bearers will be selected from family and friends. Military rites will be performed by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Army National Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from noon until time for the service.
