Garnetta Hurt Yarber

Glade Spring, VA – Garnetta Hurt Yarber, age 84, passed on Friday, April 11, 2025, at her home. Garnetta was born August 17, 1940, in Abingdon, VA, to the late James and Elsie Nelson Hurt. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist and enjoyed flowers, gardening, art, and traveling with her family.

In addition to her parents, Garnetta was preceded in death by her son, Robert C. Yarber, Jr.; brothers, Larry Hurt and Johnny Hurt; and daughter-in-law, Susan Yarber.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Yarber; her three children, Tommy Eugene Yarber and wife Brenda of Forest, VA, Kenneth W. Yarber and wife Temple of Glade Spring, VA, and Kathy Marie Berry and husband Tom of Lutrell, TN; brother, Edward Hurt; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be held 6-8 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Chad Johnson and Tom Berry officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Megan Miceli, Jonathan Yarber, Christopher Yarber, Austin Yarber, Shane Miller, Ty Miller, Rebekah Fultz and Allison Yarber serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Robbie Yarber.
