Gary Allen Barrett

Gary Allen Barrett, age 66, of Bristol, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Johnson City Medical Center. He was employed for 28 years with Shearer’s Snack Foods in Bristol, Va. Gary was a charter member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Abingdon, Va., and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben F. Barrett, Jr.; niece, Ally Testerman; sister-in-law, Darlene Barrett; and father-in-law, Delmus L. Testerman.
Gary is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Testerman Barrett; mother, Janice Street Barrett of Abingdon, Va.; daughter, Nicole Roberson of the home; sister, Sandra Taylor and husband, Mike, of Bristol, Va.; two brothers, Eddie Barrett of Bristol, Va. and Steve Barrett and friend, Bethany Cox, of Bristol, Va.; two grandsons, Cameron Roberson and Jaymes Roberson; mother-in-law, Sue Testerman of Bristol, Va.; and special friend, David Worley and wife, Shirley, of Bristol, Va.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2896 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Pastor Bryan Treadway officiating. A committal service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Mountain View Cemetery, 1019 E. Valley Dr., Bristol, Va. 24201. Pallbearers will be Ira Price, Bryan Rasnake, Leon Rasnake, Travis Rasnake, Mike Taylor, Nathan Taylor, Alan Testerman, and Carson Testerman. Eddie Barrett, James Cullop, Philip Sullivan, Rick Widener, and David Worley will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
