Gary Lee Williams, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at his residence in Abingdon. He was born in Columbus, OH to the late Orian Victor “Bill” Williams and Doris “Pauline” McMurray Williams on December 21, 1948.
Gary served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps having served in Vietnam. He was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star #182 and the Masonic Lodge #48 in Abingdon, and was head of the lodge in 1996. He had a passion for old cars. He tended to his 1929 Ford Coupe and enjoyed his days in retirement behind the wheel. He also enjoyed spending time at car shows, fishing, bowling, was an avid golfer and loved his dogs, but above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Janet Williams; two sons David Noah Williams and Joshua Matthew Williams and one grandson Justin Elliott Williams.
The family requests a memorial gathering of family and friends 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in the Main Street Location of Farris Funeral Service. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
