Meadowview, VA Genave Erma Montgomery, age 98, passed on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Genave retired as an educator after teaching at Meadowview Elementary School for over 50 years. She was a was a graduate of Emory Henry College, a member of Emory United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing the piano.
Genave was preceded in death by her parents, John G. Montgomery and Etha G. Montgomery; sisters, Nannie Montgomery Rowland, Lake Montgomery Clark, and May Janet Montgomery; and brother, James C. Montgomery.
She is survived by her great nieces, Nan Rowland Jones and Susan Rowland; great nephews, Mark Grayson, John Grayson, and Curtis Grayson; great-great nephews, Tanner Smith, Tyler Smith, and John Grayson; and great-great-great nephews, Landen, Hunter, and Grayson Smith.
Visitation with the family will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m, Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Graveside services will follow in Holston Conference Cemetery with Rev. Scott Spence and Rev. David Jackson officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to travel in procession are asked to convene at the funeral home before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
