Gene Carl Hawthorne

Mr. Gene Carl Hawthorne, age 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, Tn.
Gene was born October 29, 1929 in Huntington, WVa. to the late Carl and Oralee Wheeler Hawthorne. He served in the United States Army in Korea and was a member of Fellowship Chapel in Bristol, Va.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Hazel Louise Belcher Hawthorne; one daughter, Angela Hawthorne; one grandson; one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Hawthorne is survived by three sons, Darrell Hawthorne, Garry Hawthorne, and Chris Hawthorne, all of Bristol, Va., and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor Mitchell Ratcliff officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Bristol V.F.W. Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Jim Mullins, Chris Moore, Ronnie Bridgeman, Dustin Bridgeman, Mike Belcher, and Dennis Belcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Callihan, Mike McGann, Adam Hawthorne, and Tim Moore.
Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service by 1:30 p.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
