George Hainsworth died peacefully in hospice care at English Meadows in Abingdon, VA, on Friday, October 30, 2020, a week before his 93rd birthday.
Born and raised in Scottsburg, NY, George enlisted in the Army in 1946 and served his country in Korea. When he returned he married Pat, his high school sweetheart, and raised a family in Victor, NY, where they were active members of St. Patrick’s Church. He was an avid deer hunter and outdoorsman, and his family has many fond memories of time spent with him at his hunting camp in Geneseo, NY. George was kindhearted and humble, with a gentle sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Allen) Hainsworth, his second wife Joan (Crocker) Hainsworth, and his brothers Charles Hainsworth, Roy Hainsworth, and Joe Hainsworth.
George’s memory will be kept alive by his sons John (Rosana) Hainsworth of Camp Verde, AZ, and Mark (Laura) Hainsworth of Glade Spring, VA, cherished family and friends on and around Hainsworth Farms in Geneseo, NY, his daughter Shari DeLooze of Rochester, NY., and seven grandchildren.
George believed in protecting outdoor resources and recreation. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a state or local park, or wildlife management area. A memorial celebration will be planned at a later date.
