Meadowview, VA – George Henry Wysor, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Grace Healthcare. He was born in Tazewell County, VA to the late Charles Beverly Wysor and Nellie Audrey Gaussoin Wysor on May 15, 1927. He was the youngest and last surviving member of his generation. As a veteran of the United States Army he served 10 ½ months in Korea where he earned a Combat Medic Award. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Robert Wysor; and sister, Mary Wysor Ferrell. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Lorraine Dales Wysor; son, Charles Henry Wysor and wife Shirley of Meadowview, VA; two daughters, Debra Ecker of Houston, TX and Patricia Warner and husband Jerry of Johnson City, TN; seven grandchildren, Sara, Jessica, Joan, Bryan, Heather, Tammy, and Jerry, Jr.; and eleven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 18th at Forest Hills Memory Gardens where Military Honors will be presented by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be James Cook, David O’Quinn, Wayne Rector, Leon Stacy, and Jerry Warner. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Abingdon Dialysis Center and to caregiver, Armenda Wysor.
