Glade Spring, VA - Georgia Mae Hall Henderson, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep March 4, 2017. “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” Born on March 11, 1922, in Glade Spring, VA, she was a daughter of the late Hobart and Cora Hall. A lifelong resident of the area, she was best known as “Granny” by her friends and family. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinner for her family and sharing many stories of her life growing up. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three infant children Willie Oscar, Judy Ann, and Betty Jane; brothers Roy, Harvey, James, Henley, Louis and Robert Hall; sisters Bertha Hall and Rosie Sawyers.
Survivors include her children Ella Kathryn Rucker of Pulaski, VA, Frances (Doug) Debord, of Saltville, VA, David (Cherie) Henderson of Abingdon, VA, Claude (Phyllis) Henderson of Meadowview, VA, Tony (Linda) Henderson of Reidsville, NC, Patricia (Mike) Thomas of Glade Spring, VA, and Rita Henderson and Lisa (Duwayne) Taylor. She was very proud of her eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five and a half great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also left to survive her memory is her siblings Minerva Thompson of Aberdeen, MD and Charlie Hall of Madison, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Georgia Mae Hall Henderson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday March 8, 2017 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Danny Mefford and Carol Puckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Glade Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Stevie Debord, Aaron Debord, Greg Henderson, David Henderson, Serjeo Rodriquez and Matt Henderson; and great grandsons, Phillip Lester and Dillon Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Phyllis Henderson, Linda Henderson, Cherie Henderson, Mike Thomas, Doug DeBord, and Duwayne Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday March 7, 2017at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service
