Gladys Tuggle Kestner, 91, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 10, 1927 in Mercer County, W. Va., but has spent most of her life in Washington County, Va. Gladys was the oldest living member of the Brumley Gap Methodist Church. Many will remember her as the former secretary at Hayters Gap School.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis and Dixie Tuggle, spouse Silas Kestner, infant daughter Wilma Jean Kestner, and daughter Cathy Shrader.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Judy Bordwine and husband Randy, and Fay Smith and husband Marty; son-in-law George Shrader; sister Charlotte Branson and husband Don; grandchildren Andy Shrader, Jennifer Taylor and husband Brian, Willie Bordwine, Michael Smith and wife Kim, and Travis Smith; great-grandchildren Carlee Taylor, Cale-Leigh Smith, Joshua Smith, and Sydney Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the funeral home with `Pastor Steve McCready officiating. Interment will follow in the Hiram Henderson Cemetery, where casket bearers will be selected from family and friends.
