Godfrey Morris Curd, 65, went home to meet the Lord on Sunday, August 19, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Curd was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam Era. Morris was a member of River Bend Church of God and was preceded in death by his parents, Mose and Mattie Terry Curd; three sisters, Doris Curd Smith, Grace Curd Taylor and Roberta Terry Eastridge; four brothers, Charlie Terry, Joe Curd, John Terry and Epperson Terry.
Morris leaves behind a loving wife of 44 years, Meryl Woodward Curd; two sons, Gregory Morris Curd of Bristol, VA and Jeffrey Allen Curd of Rockmart, GA; two daughters, Jennifer Curd Chapman and husband Darrell Chapman of Meadowview, VA and Lisa Curd McArter also of Meadowview, VA; three grandsons, Tanner Morris Curd, Ethan Chance Deel and Eli Morris Curd; three granddaughters, Taylor Nichole Chapman, Mackenzie Dawn Chapman and Rylee Grace Chapman; two brothers, King S. Terry of Bristol, VA and J.D. Terry of Washington; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Roger O'Quinn and Rev. Rick Cuddy officiating. Burial will follow in Fall Hill Cemetery with Gregory Morris Curd, Jeffrey Allen Curd, Tanner Morris Curd, Gary Terry, Darrell Chapman, Mark Terry and David Swier serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Morris Curd and Ethan Chance Deel. Military Rites will be conducted by Highlands Fellowship Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard.
