Goldie Duncan Gilley, 84, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Altamont Manor in Lebanon, VA.
She was born February 16, 1926 in Washington County, VA and was a daughter of the late William Henry and Fannie Stella Wise Duncan. She had lived in Baltimore, MD for several years but had returned to Washington County in 1962. While in Baltimore she was employed by Martin Marietta. For the past five years, she had lived at Altamont Manor in Lebanon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Junior Gilley, and two sisters, Beulah Anne Bishop and Clietis Helton.
Survivors are three sisters, Dixie Reynolds and husband, James, Marie Reynolds and Christine Brewer and husband, Tom all of Abingdon; three brothers, Earnest Duncan and wife, Bertha of Bristol, TN, Herbert Duncan and wife, Lucille of Bristol, VA and Clifton Duncan and wife, Lora of Abingdon and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Bill and Eileen Reynolds and all of the staff at Altamont Manor for their kindness and love for Goldie and her family.
Funeral services for Goldie Gilley will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 21, 2011 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Bill Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at Knollkreg Memorial Park in Abingdon. Pallbearers will be Wayne Reynolds, Tony Brewer, Keith Galimore, Johnny Duncan, Wayne Wimmer, Roger Hearld, Jr. and Junior Duncan.
The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
