Abingdon, VA – Goldie Magnolia Johnson Dye, age 99, passed on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at her home. Goldie was a resident of the Greendale community for nearly 100 years and was a member of Greendale United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, especially tending to flowers.
Mrs. Dye is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Johnson and Betty Tolliver Johnson; husband, Scott Dye; son, Gary “Butch” Dye; daughters, Clara Woodward and Brenda Reynolds; brothers, George, Bill, Charlie, and Herbert Johnson; and sisters, Mary Lee Lilly and Ruth Johnson.
Goldie is survived by three sons, Scottie (Mary) Dye of Bristol, VA, Ronald (Anita) Dye of Bristol, VA, and Barry Dye of Abingdon, VA; daughter, Patricia (Spurgeon) McCroskey of Abingdon, VA; daughter-in-law, Mae Dye; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve McReady officiating. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those wishing to attend the committal are asked to meet at the cemetery before 2:00 p.m.
