Gregory "GCOOL" Thomas Sholes

Glade Spring, Va.
Gregory Thomas GCOOL Sholes, 59, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home. He was a native of Glade Spring. GCOOL graduated from Emory Henry College and spent most of his career as a teacher and coach at Holston High School. He was a very intelligent and civic minded individual, being active in town affairs and serving on the Town Council of Glade Spring. He was an accomplished guitarist and sports fan. However, most of all, he was just a great father.
GCOOL was preceded in death by his parents Leo (Muscle) and Helen Sholes. He is survived by his son Blake Sholes and daughter Mary Virginia Sholes, both of Glade Spring.; brothers Tim, Ronnie and Gary Sholes and sister Yvonne Archer. Survivors also include two beloved granddogs, Maximus and Rosie, and a host of friends and other family members.
Cryptside services for Gregory Thomas GCOOL Sholes will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service.
