H. Kenneth Wolfe

Hancel Kenneth Wolfe, age 88 of Abingdon, VA went to be with his Lord on Friday, April 26, 2024. Kenneth was born on September 2, 1935, to the late Ervin and Elsie Wolfe of Meadowview, Virginia. He was the sole surviving founding member of Midway Church of the Living God where he served as an original deacon for 53 years. He gained great joy by working in the church in all types of capacities. He was affectionately known to all the children at Midway Church as “Granddaddy” or “Grandpappy”. He would dotingly say the “Children at Midway Church was his life.” He was a Godly example and prayer warrior for all that had the privilege to know him. We will cherish the loving memory of his special prayer request of “God help me be a better boy”.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Bonnie Roe Wolfe. He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Gibson and husband David, grandson Andy Gibson and wife Shelby, great grandchildren Caden and Kennedy Gibson, several heart adopted children and grandchildren and his sister Gladys Whittaker. He is also survived by his beloved cat and constant companion “Boomer”.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday April 30, 2024, at Farris Funeral Service - Main Street Chapel with funeral services beginning at 7:00 pm. Committal services will be Wednesday May 1, 2024, at 11:00am in the Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Pastor Dave Gibson will officiate the services. Pallbearers serving the family will be Keith French, Jacob Rock, Chris Lloyd, Craig South, Mike Talbert and Colton South. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews and the men of Midway Church of the Living God.
