Harman Billy "Ratchet" Boyd, 62, of Abingdon passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his home.
He was born to the late Thurman and Nancy Boyd. He was a retired coal miner and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Shirley H. Boyd, a son, William V. Boyd of Abingdon; three daughters, Melinda O'Quinn and her husband Doug of Abingdon, VA., Vickie Booher of Abingdon, VA, and Barbara Deel and her husband Arville, Jr. of Bristol, VA.; two sisters, Faye Walden of Drill, VA, and Phyllis Dales and her husband Darrell of Vansant, VA; also surviving him are his eight grandchildren and four special great grandchildren. He was a loving husband, a wonderful dad, a proud grandfather and great grandfather.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at 11:00 AM, at Ketron Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Mausoleum Chapel, 154 Huckleberry Road, Lebanon, VA. with Bro. Paul Price, Pastor Gary Roark, and Bro.David Wilmoth officiating. Pallbearers will be Arville Deel, Jr., Scott O'Quinn, Dustin O'Quinn, Daniel Deel, Andy Booher, and James Booher. Honorary Pallbearers are Buck Gobble, Arville Deel, Don Trivett, Roger Reynolds, and the men from Mt. Calvary Church. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 18, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Laramie Triplett and his staff, Intrepid Healthcare, Home Nursing Co. Inc., and Medi Home Care. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, visits, and all the support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the family.
