Harvey Mitchell Rector, Jr. age 75, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harvey M. Rector, Sr. and Ethel McClelland Rector; one brother, William Bradford Rector; two special sister-in-laws, Shirley Crosswhite Rector and Helen Burnette Lilly; and a special brother-in-law, Gene Lilly.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty Burnette Rector; one brother, Wayne Rector of Meadowview, VA; one sister, Mary Alice Rector Johnson and her husband Harold Johnson of Marion, VA; two sons, Rick Rector and wife Karen Rector of Bristol, VA and Harvey M. Rector, III "Mitch" and wife Sheri Rector of Bluff City, TN; one granddaughter, Valerie Rector Huggins and husband Sgt. Joshua Adam Huggins of Ft. Bliss, TX; two grandsons, Travis Scott Rector and wife Amber Rector of Bristol, VA and Harvey Mitchell Rector IV "Mitchell" of Bluff City, TN ; four great grandsons, Nickolas Hurley, Aidan and Mayson Huggins all of Ft. Bliss, TX, and Noah Rector of Bristol, VA; he is also survived by a niece and several nephews. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and they brought him great joy in his later years. A special thanks to all of the home health care nurses, physical therapists, and the staff of Wellmont Hospice House especially Regina, Iva, and Mike.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, April 12th and a funeral service will be held in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 13th with interment to follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Brother Sam Haynes to officiate. Pallbearers will be Scott Rector, Jeff Lilly, Mike Johnson, Travis Rector, Mitchell Rector, David Burnette, Tyler Burnette, and Doug Sykes. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Johnson, Steve Rector, Bill Boyd, Keith Smith, Bill and Bobby Barr, Harold Norris, Bob Puckett, Al Trower, Mason Dixon Drivers, former employees of Triple R Trucking and R & O Driving School.
