Mrs. Hazel Irene Duff, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the Wellmont Hospice House.
She was born in Washington Co., VA on August 17, 1925. Hazel was a member of the Abingdon First Assembly of God in Abingdon. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening and taking care of flowers. She had a gentle spirit and always had kind words and caring advice for those that knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vince B. and Beatrice Perkins Snead, and her husband of 64 years, Charlie Robert Duff.
Survivors include her daughters, Norma Maloyed, Charlotte, NC; Freida Harris and husband Douglas, and Leisa Thompson and husband Otis all of Glade Spring, VA.; her sister,Frances Snead of Saltville; her grandchildren, Jenny Finney and Kimberly Andrews both of Saltville, VA; Wesley Harris and Ashley Harris both of Knoxville, TN; Shannon Thompson, Nyack, NY; and Brandon Thompson, Meadowview, VA; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 3:00 pm in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Pastor William Spann officiating. The committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
