Hazel Widner Nelson

Abingdon, VA – Hazel Marie Widner Nelson, age 82, passed away on Monday June 2, 2014 at Grace Healthcare. Mrs. Nelson was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA. She was Baptist in faith and constantly shared Psalm 23, as it was her favorite Bible verse. Her joys in life were her family, flowers, and gardening. She especially loved to read, and passed that passion on to her children by reading to them every night before bed. Left to share her memory are; 3 sons James and Lewis Nelson, both of Abingdon and Eugene Nelson and girlfriend Katrina Blevins of Chilhowie, VA; 3 daughters Anita Nelson and Teresa Ann McCracken and husband Jerry both of Abingdon and Virginia Martin of Bristol, VA; sister Leola Grubb and husband Gerald of Danville, VA; 2 granddaughters Misty Dawn Martin and Ashley Marie Nelson both of Bristol, VA. A graveside funeral service will be held for Hazel Marie Widner Nelson at the Rhudy Family Cemetery in the Denton’s Valley Community on Thursday June 5, 2014 at 12:00 noon. The family will received friends at Farris Funeral Service; 427 E. Main Street; Abingdon, VA from 9:00am – 11:00am before a procession to the cemetery.
