Helen McClanahan Witt

Mrs. Helen McClanahan Witt, age 85, formerly of Grundy, went to be with her Heavenly Father Monday, March 10, 2014.
Helen was born on September 6, 1928 in Roanoke, VA to the late A.D. McClanahan and Netta Tarter McClanahan and later moved to Grundy. While living in Grundy, she was a school teacher for several years. She was a member of the Grundy Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and served in many ministries. Helen moved to Abingdon in 1978. She then joined First Christian Church where she was an active member. She loved serving her Lord.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Henry Stuart Mullins.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 66 years, Billy A. Witt; her daughter, Teresa Witt Mullins of Knoxville, TN; and her two sons, A.D. Witt and daughter-in-law, Nancy Witt, and Billy J. Witt and daughter-in-law, Sherry Witt, all of Abingdon, VA. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Henry Stuart Mullins, Jr., Margaux Fields, Robin Harrell, Allison Price, Dustin Mullins, Morgan Mullins, Zachary Witt and Caroline Witt. Her great- grandchildren are Autumn Fields, Luke Harrell, Ashley Harrell, Boone Fields, Audrey Mullins, and Harper Witt.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, VA 24210. A celebration for her beautiful long life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Minister Tom Crise officiating. Pallbearers will be Henry Stuart Mullins, Jr., Dustin Mullins, Jason Fields, Zachary Witt, Ben Harrell and Curtis Price.
