Henry Dean Rowe, age 77, passed on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Holston Valley Medical Center. Henry was born and raised in Buchanan County, VA and moved to Abingdon in 1985. He was Veteran of the U.S. Army and loved to garden, fish, hunt, and spend time outdoors. Mr. Rowe was a self employed diesel mechanic and had also worked at Tri-City Industrial Builders.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy Rowe and Myrtle Ocie Rowe; brothers, Walt and Jim Rowe; nephew, Bob Miller; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Guy and Virginia Smith; brothers-in-law, George Smith, Paul Bartram, and Buddy Honeycutt; sisters-in-law, sisters-in-law, Ava Jean Rowe and Sandy Smith; special friends, Alvie Ratcliff and Kirksey Clevenger.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue Smith Rowe; son, Mike (Mali) Rowe of Bristol, VA; sisters, Bonnie Honeycutt of Norwood, OH and Thelma (Everett) Miller of Camp Douglas, WI; grandchildren, Cheyenne Rowe and Coy Rowe; step-granddaughter, Piy Keawsuk of Thailand; brothers-in-law, Joe (Carol) Smith and Snook (Carol) Smith; sisters-in-law, Ethel Mae Smith, Betty (David) Barrett, Phyllis Bartram, and Jaunita Rowe; and special friends, Jerry and Wilma Bailey and Joe Jackson.

Visitation with the family will be held 5-7 p.m., Thursday, July18, 2013 at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A song service will be held at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July, 19, 2013, at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Roy Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Colonial Chapel Mausoleum of Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Joe Jackson, Jerry Bailey, Brian Smith, Jeff Smith, Paul Rowe, Bill Cook, and Pete Clark serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Bruce Higinbothom and Dr. Sharon Gilbert and her nurse Bonnie for their compassionate care. The family would like to also thank home health nurses Wanda Scott and Teresa.
