Herbert Curtis McAllister

Herbert Curtis McAllister, age 92, of Abingdon, Va. passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Commonwealth Senior Living. He was born to the late Roy Jackson McAllister and India Emiline Jones McAllister in Smyth County, Va. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of Abingdon Bible Church. Herbert was retired from United Airlines where he was a mechanic.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Norma Jean Perkins McAllister; and two brothers, Harold McAllister, who died in infancy, and Landon McAllister.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Teresa McAllister of Canyon City, Colo.; two sons, Jeffery Lynn McAllister and wife, Michelle, of Bristol, Va. and Andrew Gartrell McAllister and wife, Holly, of Georgia; five siblings; Dallas McAllister, Dorothy Davis, Stella Ruth Tilly, Roy Wayne McAllister, and Charles Gordon McAllister; three grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Hwy., Abingdon, Va. 24210, with Dr. Paul Bufford officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel.
