Herbert Eskridge, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2010 in Wellmont Hospice, Bristol, TN.
He attended the Sutherland Community Church, Shady Valley,TN, and retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Charlotte Eskridge, brothers, J. D., Willis C., John Will, Carl and Harvey Eskridge, sisters, Gladys Cowan, Betty Poore,
Edna Casey and Hattie Mae Ratliff and special son-in-law, Tommy Wright.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-five years, Della Virginia Eskridge, Abingdon, VA, his daughters, Imojean Wright, Deale, MD, Peggy Harless, Abingdon, VA, Retha Vernon, Bristol, TN, Susan Wright, Shady Valley, TN, his sisters, Darlene Mann, Rustburg, VA, Marie Thomas and Ella Mae Hankins both of Lynchburg, VA, a special nephew that loved to talk with Herb about farming and gardening, Eddie Eskridge, special nieces, Susie Drinkard and Judy Hankins, who traveled frequently to visit Uncle Herb, special friend, Carl Johnson, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild and a special friend, Carl Johnson.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 427 East Main Street, Abingdon, VA.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Farris funeral home.
The committal service will be conducted Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those attending may assemble at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m.
