Herbert L. DeBusk, Sr, 80, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 11, 1929, in Glade Spring, Virginia. He grew up in the Widener's Valley area of Washington County and graduated from Liberty Hall High School and attended Emory and Henry College. He was the owner of Appalachian Plastics, Incorporated in Glade Spring, and after retirement, he spent most of his time working on his farm in Widener's Valley. He was a faithful member of the Glade Spring Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elige and Bertha DeBusk. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Frye DeBusk. Four sons: Herbert L. DeBusk, Jr. and his wife Floyce; Allen DeBusk and his wife Patty; Tommy DeBusk and his wife Lisa all of Glade Spring, Virginia; Chuck DeBusk and his wife Cassie of Bristol, Virginia. One daughter: Vicki Stevens and her husband Craig of Beckley, West Virginia.; and one adopted son: Henry Sproles, of Hopkinsville, KY. His grandchildren Kimberly Frondorf, Tracy Murray, Eric DeBusk, Kelly Maffeo, Mac DeBusk, Travis DeBusk, Rebecca Dye, Brandi Powers, Bethany, Ashton, and Alex. His great-grandchildren Braden, Cole, and Gage Frondorf, and Zack DeBusk.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm at Glade Spring Baptist Church, 414 South Monte Vista Drive, Glade Spring, VA on Thursday July 2, 2009, with funeral services immediately following at 8 PM with the Rev. Greg Hensley and the Rev. Craig Stevens officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Wideners Valley Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia on Friday July 3, 2009, at 11:00 AM.
Those attending are asked to assemble at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Olen White, Leo Widener, Perry Eller, Jim Osborne, Sam Lamie and Tony Edmondson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Catron and The Glade Spring Baptist Church's Men's Sunday School Class.
