Herly Mullins

Mr. Herly Mullins, age 81 passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, at his home. Herly had been sick for a lengthy period. Herly was born in Pound, Va. and moved to northern Virginia at the age of fifteen. He worked at George F. Warner for eighteen years, and then retired from Prince William County School System after seventeen years as a plumber. He was a member of Shiloh Freewill Baptist Church in Bristol, Va. Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by two wives, Thelma Mullins and Ruby Mullins; one daughter, Tammy; his parents Otella and Jonah Mullins; one grandson, Cody (Pedro) Phillips; three sisters, Marie Mullins, Eura Chester and Minnie Compton; and five brothers, Shelton Mullins, Curtis (Otis) Mullins, Jiggs Mullins, Hibbert Mullins and Elzie Mullins. Mr. Mullins is survived by his loving wife of fourteen and one half years, Phyllis A. Baldwin Mullins; one daughter, Lois Phillips of Orange, Va.; one son, Eugene (Gee) Mullins of Bumpass, Va.; three sisters, Jean Boggs of Remington, Va., Cloa Hounshell of Bumpass, Va., and Dot Steele of Goode, Va.; one brother, Clinton (Bo) Mullins of Crimora, Va.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three step-children, Angela (Angie) D. Arwood of Rosedale, Va., Melissa R. Smith of Mocksville, N.C., and Andrew (Andy) C. Nichols of Key West, Fla.; nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Herly loved to read his Bible, hunt deer and do handy work with his hands. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 11, 2015, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service from 6-8 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m. with Rev. Russell Baldwin officiating. Interment will be private at a later date in Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va.
