Hildred Berneice Thompson, age 85, of Glade Spring, Va., passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016, at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucen Aundre Thompson; seven siblings; and grandson, Danny Lee Thompson, Jr.
Berneice is survived by three children, Danny Lee (Barbara) Thompson, Sr. of Rural Retreat, Va.; Sharon Thompson Gilliam of the home; and Debbie Sexton of Chilhowie, Va.; sister, Laura Belle (John) Heath of Glade Spring, Va.; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Pastor Larry Lusk officiating. A private committal service will be held on Monday at Mt. Rose Cemetery where David Sexton, Derek Thompson, Austin Lamie, Michael Thompson, Colton McFarland, and John Winebarger will serve as pallbearers. Loghan Thompson, Wyatt Sexton, and Hunter Simms will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.
