Howard J. Carbary, age 85, of Abingdon, passed away June 9, 2019 at Johnson City Medical Center.
Howard was born in Rogersville, TN on November 1, 1933 to the late James Mack Carbary and the late Lou Dora Taylor Carbary. He had served in the United States Army and had worked for many years as a carpenter having worked on the construction of many area schools. Howard enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling and also enjoyed playing country music on his fiddle.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Felty; brothers, Garland Carbary, Eugene Carbary, Robert (R.T.) Carbary, and Glen (Pat) Carbary.
Howard is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Betty Stamper Carbary; godson, Robbie Cornett of Abingdon; goddaughter, Linda Cornett Skeen of Piney Flatts, TN; special friends, Janice Cornett, Jack Dolinger, and all of his golf buddies. Several nieces and nephews also survive including his nephew, Don Carbary and wife, Jewel of Abingdon.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday, June 14, 2019 at 7 pm in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Dr. Don Paxton and Rev. Dr. Barbara Doyle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until time of service.
