Hulen William Thomas, 77, of Bristol, VA passed away on May 28, 2011 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Hulen was born in Washington County, Virginia to the late Ernest and Myrtle Thomas. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gay Mildred Thomas, and his widow Peggy J. Thomas; and a son, Jeff Kennedy. Hulen was a former employee of Holston Distribution Company; Dutt and Wagner; and retired from Strongwell (formerly MMFG) as a machine operator. Hulen was an avid Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees Fan.
He is survived by a son, Mickey Thomas and his wife Tina of Bristol, VA; a daughter, Peggy Holzer and her husband Robert of Abingdon, VA; two brothers, Dale Thomas and his wife Mary of Abingdon, VA, and Dewey Thomas and his wife Tippy of Kingsport, TN; also surviving him are his three grandchildren, Robert Jason Holzer and his wife Kristen of Charlottesville, VA, and Dustin William Thomas and Austin Douglas Thomas of Bristol, VA; Also incuded in his survivors are numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Knollkreg Memorial Park, Abingdon, VA with Rev. Paul Collins officiating. Those wishing to attend are to gather at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul Thomas, Doug Little, Dustin Thomas, Austin Thomas, Robert Jason Holzer, Frank Cook, Ronnie Harless, and Brandon Jenkins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Farris Funeral Service, Main Street Chapel.
