Ima Jean (Farmer) Pope, age 82, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Jean, who was a woman of faith, was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and friends very much. She enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting for the home and for gifts for family and friends. In her down time, Jean loved working her word puzzles, watching crime shows, and watching her University of Kentucky Wildcats Basketball.
Jean was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Layman and Sarah Farmer; mother and stepfather Olive and Clarence Conwell; and sister Mattie Sue Farmer.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie H. Pope; children, Darrell M. Pope, Johnnie H. Pope, Jr., Tonya L. Cox, Karla G. Chapman, and Bradley A. Chapman and wife Kaitlynn; grandchildren, Karina Martin and husband Bobby, N. Rivver Cox and fiancé Alston Merritt, Benjamin J. Chapman, Michael Pope, and Steven Perdue; brother, Laymon C. Farmer and wife Terreasa; sisters, Kathryn Conwell, Bertha Francis, Roberta Mooney and husband Johnny, Thresea Phillips and husband Jerry, Barbara Bennett and husband Michael; sisters-in-law Betty Cunningham and husband Perry and family, and Sandy Meadows and husband John and family.
A funeral service for Ima Jean (Farmer) Pope will be conducted at 4:00 PM Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Barbara Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Methodist Church Cemetery. Casket bearers will be selected from family and friends. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service.
