Mrs. Inez Carter McCray, age 89, passed away Saturday February 27, 2016 at Grace Health Care. She was born November 26, 1926 in Smyth County, Va to the late Hubert William Carter and the late Florida Dye Carter. Mrs. McCray attended Trinity Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and was a kind and caring friend to all who knew her. Mrs. McCray was very giving to any worthy cause and she was an excellent cook.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Arlee Lamie and three brothers, Birdie Renaldo Carter, Frank Carter and William Carter.
Mrs. McCray is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Ray B. McCray and one son, Michael McCray of Abingdon. She is also survived by two brothers; Joe Ryburn Carter and wife, Margaret of Abingdon and Alford Carter and wife, Judy of Rich Valley.
The funeral for Mrs. Inez Carter McCray will be conducted 7 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Ronnie Blevins and Rev. Floyd Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. prior to the service. The committal service will be conducted Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Knollkreg Memorial Park everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.
