Inez Okeneta McCoy

Inez Okeneta McCoy, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, went to be with the lord on December 18, 2024 in Bristol, Virginia. Born on April 22, 1934 in Kentucky, Inez lived a life rich in love and family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and devotion.

Inez dedicated her heart and soul to her family, exemplifying the true meaning of love with her husband of 67 years, Samuel "Sam" McCoy, Sr. Together they built a sanctuary of joy and support that nurtured their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Her commitment to her family was unmatched, and she took immense pride in being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Her surviving family includes her loving husband, Samuel McCoy, Sr.; sons, Samuel McCoy, Jr. and Jeffrey McCoy (Lesia); grandchildren, Misty McCoy, Heather McCoy Gallo, Shane Aaron McCoy, and Jonathan McCoy.; great-grandchildren, Sallie McCoy, Seth Spears, Katie Gallo; great-great-grandchildren, Serenity Welch and Reese Cofer; and brother, Greg Lynch and many special nieces and nephews.  Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Ada Hawk Lynch; brothers, Daniel Noble Lynch, James Lynch and Dennis Lynch; sisters, Mable Lynch Presnell, Mary Evelyn Lynch Burr, and Francis "Tootsie" Lynch Johnson.

In addition to her deep familial bonds, Inez found solace in the beauty of nature. She loved tending to her flower gardens, where every bloom told a story of her nurturing spirit. Alongside her passion for gardening, Inez enjoyed the quiet escape that reading provided, embracing stories that transported her far and wide.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Inez's life at the visitation on December 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM, with Rev Gary Rowlette officiating both held at Farris Funeral Service – Main Street Chapel, 427 E Main St, Abingdon, VA. The graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memory Gardens on December 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to be at the cemetery no later than 10:45 AM.

As we remember Inez Okeneta McCoy, we celebrate her extraordinary life, the love she shared, and the indelible mark she leaves in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy of love and family will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the lessons taught. She will be dearly missed but forever cherished.
