Abingdon, Va. – Jack Dempsey Shortt, 83, passed on Monday, February 25, 2019, in Abingdon Health & Rehab Center. Mr. Shortt was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a truck driver for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Edith Campbell Shortt, and wife Ilda Lampkins Shortt. Jack is survived by three sisters, Sylvia Owens of Roanoke, Va., Phyllis Smith of Battlesboro, N.C., and Brenda Sorah and husband James of Bristol, Va; brother Ray Shortt and wife Mary of Statesville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February, 27, 2019, in the Temple Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum, Castlewood, VA, with Rev. Barry Marshall officiating. Family and friends wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the mausoleum.
