Jack Lee Cox, age 81, died on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cox was born and raised in Tazewell, VA. His parents were the late George H. Cox and Essie Mae Short Cox. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a 1958 Graduate of Emory & Henry College.
Mr. Cox taught chemistry and biology at Marion Senior High School for many years. He was a Master Mason of Tazewell Lodge # 62 F.A. & F.M. where he received his 50 year pin. He attended Emory United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Brewer Cox; daughter, Judy Miller of Emory, VA; son, Randy Cox and wife Kristie of Marietta, GA; and three grandchildren, Kristen Elizabeth Miller, Abby Christine Miller, and Jordan Renette Cox.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Emory and Henry Chapel with Rev. David Jackson officiating. Members of the Cox family will receive visitors at their home immediately following the service.
