Jackie Lynn "Tuff" Bowers

Tuff worked for The City of Bristol and then later for Appalachian Power Company where he retired as a Garage Mechanic. He was a hard worker all his life and loved working in his yard and listening to gospel music.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; 13 siblings, Lee Bowers, Clarence “Paige” Bowers, Daisy Harley, William “Shine” Bowers, Pearl Harley, Nellie Anderson, Ethel Dickenson, Eva Moore, Katherine Ruth Strouth, Margaret “Mag” Nash, EH “Nub” Bowers, John “Tobe” Bowers, and Ralph “Willie” Bowers.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Jane Bowers; his daughter, Angela S. Hutton (Jim); two grandsons, Justin Hutton (Amanda) and Joshua Hutton; four sisters Betty “Beck” Watson, Faye Lester, Ann Roark, and Carolyn Tomlinson; great grandson, Colton James Hutton; step granddaughter Megan Hick (Christopher); several nieces and nephews and special friends Linda and Fred Sutherland and the Stiltner Family.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 10:00 AM in the Forest Hill Memory Gardens with a gathering at 9:30 AM. Rev. Roger Ball will be officiating.

The pallbearers will be Jim Hutton, Justin Hutton, Fred Sutherland, Junior Wilson, Gary Stiltner, and J.R. Stiltner. The honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Hutton.

The family would like to thank The Waters of Bristol and Gentiva Hospice for the care they gave him during his illness.
